Piran Ferry Port
Situated in the Gulf of Piran on the northern part of the Adriatic Sea, at the top horn of Istria, the Piran ferry port is a tiny but busy Slovenian port that serves foot passenger ferries to and from Trieste and Venice. There are no car ferries that serve this ferry port. The nearest car ferry port is Trieste in Italy.
From here, you can cross to Italy and get on other ferries to travel further to Greece or Albania. The nearest alternative port is Umag (24 km), while the nearby airports are Trieste (80 km), Pula (95 km), and Ljubljana (140 km). The train station that serves this port is in Koper (19 km).

Getting To Piran Ferry Port
Ferry port location
The ferry port is located on the town waterfront, about a 2 min walk from the town’s bus station (map). The most convenient way to reach the port is to walk or get a local bus. From the town center & bus station to the ferry terminal
From the town center, you can walk along the sea promenade, as it is very close, depending on location (5 – 8 min walk). The town’s main bus station is situated 0.3 km away from the port, about 2 minutes’ walking distance (map). If you have a heavy suitcase, you may get a taxi (2 min drive).
From Trieste Airport to Piran Ferry Port
Trieste (TRS) is Piran’s nearest airport. There is a regular bus shuttle that takes you to Piran main bus station (info). The total distance is about 80 km and takes about 1.5 hours. The alternative is to take a taxi to/from the ferry port (about 65 minute ride).
Ticket office
If you are buying last-minute tickets on the day of travel, and if any of the places are still available for the ferry crossing, you can buy a ticket at the boarding point of both ferry lines. If you leave it late, you may end up not getting a place on the ferry. Advance, online booking works the best. See also what to wear on the ferry. Also, note, there is no dedicated ticket office at the bus station too. You get your ticket either online or from the driver.
Luggage Storage
At the present, there are no dedicated left luggage facilities in the port itself nor at the bus station. You can also ask in the local cafe, they may look after your bags for a while for free if you need to.
Parking
There is plenty of parking places but not in the vicinity of the port. However, there is a large parking lot in Fornace, about 1 km away from the port and city center where you can park and get on a free bus shuttle to the port. These buses are very frequent (10-15 min) and a convenient way of local transport. If you are picking up or dropping off at the ferry terminal there are short-stay parking bays outside the terminal.
WIFI Connection
Free Wi-Fi is available in the port as well as in the town center. Use WiFi4EU WiFi free network which is available in the whole town center. Also, in local cafes/restaurants, you can use the Wi-Fi service to go online for free.
