Venice Ferry Port
Venice port has two ferry terminals, both situated at the waterfront of this lovely Italian city. San Basilio Passenger Terminal is within the walking distance of this popular and romantic city’s landmarks while Fusina Ferry and Cruise Terminal is a bit further away, easily reachable by local water taxis and Vaporettos.
Ferries to and from Greece, Croatia, and Slovenia all arrive and depart from here. From Venice, you can get direct international overnight crossing to Greece as well as short, fast catamaran crossings to Istria in Croatia.
The alternative international ferry ports are in nearby Trieste and further south in Ancona, Bari, and Brindisi which are ports to get a direct ferry to Greece.

Getting To Venice Ferry port
There are two ferry terminals in Venice:
- San Basilio Passenger Terminal, from where all fast ferries to Slovenia and Croatia arrive and depart
- Fusina Ferry Terminal from where all car ferries to/from Greece arrive and depart.
It is good to know that Venice is connected with the Italian mainland by three points that have access to cars: Piazzale Roma Bus Station, Tronchetto, and by Santa Lucia Railway Station.
Getting to San Basilio Passenger Terminal
This terminal is located in the Zattere area, within a 15-minute walking distance from the city center. The address is San Basilio Terminal, Venezia Terminal Passeggeri, Venezia, Italy. See all detailed locations on the below map.
from Venice Airport
Venice Marco Polo Airport (VCE) is about 30 minutes bus ride from the city center. Get bus no 5, shuttle bus, or Venezia Express bus to Piazzale Roma Bus Station. From Piazzale Roma, walk to the terminal or, if you have heavy luggage, take a Vaporetto water taxi to San Basilio.
from Bus Station
The main city bus station in Piazzale Roma, where all buses arrive. It is just about 15 minutes walk from San Basilio or a few minutes ride by water taxi Vaporetto line 2.
from Railway Station
From Santa Lucia train station, which is about 2.5 km away from the terminal, takes 10 minutes for local Vaporetto line 2 to reach the ferry. The alternative is to walk, which should take about 20 minutes.
Getting to Fusina Ferry Terminal
This terminal is located in the Fusina area, outside of the city center. The address is Terminal Fusina, Via Moranzani, Venezia, Italy. See all detailed locations on the below map.

Get from the airport to the city centre and then take the Terminal Fusina water taxi circle line (info below)
from Bus Station
Take bus no 16 from Venice to Fusina (check timetables and buy your ticket here) or get a Terminal Fusina water taxi circle line – check schedules and info here
From Railway Station
Take the Terminal Fusina water taxi circle line from the Zattere area, as above.

Luggage Storage in Venice Ferry Port
There is luggage storage in the ferry terminals, the railway station, and the bus terminal as well as at several points in the city – see left luggage addresses, opening times, and details on the map here
Check-in, ticket office, ferry boarding
- get to the ferry port at least 2 hrs prior to your departure
- get your boarding pass at the ferry check-in office
- you will pass the immigration procedure just before the boarding
- for an orientation around the area, follow the well-placed and clear signs
- San Basilio Terminal Check-in is at the ferry
- Fusina Terminal Check-in for ferries to Greece is in the passenger terminal at the Grimaldi Lines/ Anek/ Minoan Lines desk.
Parking in Venice ferry port
Venice is a car-free city. Parking near the port is available for short and for long-stay parking such as Piazzale Roma or Tronchetto. There are several parking lots nearby ferry terminals, see the detailed map here
